Teenager Kidnaps 4 years old girl, Demands N70, 000 as ransom in Katsina State

 

Katsina state police at Marabar Kankara town in Malumfashi, has arrested a 16 years old JSS 3 Student, Abubakar Abdulbashir, who had supposedly kidnapped his 4 years old cousin and kept her in an uncompleted building.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Superintendent of Police, SP Isah Gambo, Confirming the incident, said, “One Sanusi Abubakar of Marabar Kankara village in Malufashi LGA had reported that since his 4-years old daughter, Halimatu Sanusi, had gone missing and all struggle to trace her whereabouts had been proved abortive.

Sanusi had later received a phone call that his daughter has been kidnapped, and was threatened to pay the sum of N70, 000 or she might lose her life.

It was reported that a woman who was aware of the disappearance of the girl, was passing by the uncompleted building when she spotted the girl in the company of the suspect. When asked what he was doing with her, he responded that they were only chatting but if she wants to take her home, she is free.

On taking the girl home, she narrated everything to the girl’s parent. Immediately, the father reported the case at Malumfashi Police Station. Subsequently, the Police Anti-Kidnapping unit, swung into action and Abdulbasir’s father was invited for questioning of his son’s whereabouts.

Abudulbasir later returned home and was informed by his mother that his father has been taken by the police for questioning, he then later decided to turn himself in and confess to the crime.

When interrogated, the suspect said:

''Yes it is true that I kidnapped Halima my cousin. I hid her in an uncompleted building outskirt of town and then put a phone call through to her parents demanding for N70, 000.

I also threatened that they may lose her if they fall to provide the money. Immediately, I terminated the call, my conscience pricked me that this path I have toed is dangerous and against my religion. I am very sorry for my action. I am asking for forgiveness. I have realized my mistakes.”
