Political Parties have Taken Over Nigerian Television Stations Ahead of February's Elections

In advance of the 2015 Nigerian general elections slated for next month, the major political parties in Nigeria has overtaken the big names in Television stations. Tune from NTA to AIT, Channels to Silvebird and you will see that the only programs going on the stations are live streaming pictures of the campaign activities of the political parties.

From all indications, NTA and AIT appears to be more favourable to PDP Rallies and give second hand attention to APC presidential elections while Channels Television appears to give upper attention to APC rallies and second hand concern to PDP rallies. Other smaller stations in the country just tag along based on their interest in order to keep their subscribers tuned into their frequencies.

So my people, we will have to endure this trend until after the conclusion of all major elections in February2015. My word of advice is that advertisers should hold on to their adverts and advert budgets for TV Screen until after the elections in order to get full value back for the funds they spend on advertising. And its obvious that the major Television Stations are in their season of profits as they are busy catching in the hundreds of millions in cheques from the proceed of airing these many rallies. It is not child's play to air live programs for hours on end on a TV station - we are looking in the region of N30,000,000 to N60,000,000 per live rally.

But my question is; where are the other political parties like SDP, PDM, AD, LP and so on? Are they not organising their rallies as well? just curious
