Abubaka Mohammed who was arrested for armed robbery, has claimed he went into the crime so has to pay his fees.

Abubakar Mohammed, a 23 years old SS II student of Demsawo Government Secondary School in Yola, Adamawa state, who was arrested for armed robbery has said that he went into committing crime so as to raise and pay his 1st and 2nd terms school fees, adding that his father was dead.

Abubakar had broken into the house of a lady, Maryam Jamilu, at Wauru jabbe in Yola LGA in the day, Waving a knife and threatening to kill her. He was charged before Yola  Magistrate Court I on one count charge of armed robbery which he later admitted to have committed the crime.

According to report, He  attacked her on the 11th February, 2022 in her palour where he robbed her of her mobile phone valued at N68, 000, another phone valued N6000 and the sum of N200 cash. Meanwhile when  Maryam was seeing her visitor off after the said operation, she sharp-eyed the suspect and raised an alarm which led to his arrest.

After the plea of the defendant was taken, ASP Francis Audu,the prosecutor, urged the court to return the suspect at a correctional centre to enable them transmit case file to DPP for legal advice considering the nature of the offence.

The presiding judge, Abdullahi Mohammed Digil, ordered the return of the suspect and adjourned the matter as prayed by the prosecutor.
