CORONAVIRUS : China to help overwhelmed Hong Kong with COVID- 19 fight

Hong Kong and mainland China are among few places in the world still aiming to suppress every COVID-19 outbreak, but the Omicron variant has proven tough to keep under control.

Hong Kong is one of the world's most isolated large cities, with flights 90% down, and hardly any allowed to transit. It has recorded more than 20,000 infections and just over 200 deaths since the start of the pandemic, far fewer than in most other places, but at significant economic and psychological cost.

Lee, Health Secretary Sophia Chan and Security Chief Chris Tang were part of a delegation who visited the neighbouring Shenzhen on Friday and Saturday to discuss support measures with mainland Chinese officials.

Chief Secretary John Lee said on Saturday, that China would help Hong Kong to cop with an expanding COVID 19 Outbreak by providing treatment, testing, and quarantine capacity, saying that there was no plans for a mainland-style lockdown for the main time. Lee also stated that lap personnel, hospital beds, protection equipment were also included in the support offer.

Edwin Tsui, controller of the Centre for Health Protection, told reporters that the virus was the toughest battle against other virus of the past two years. he also begged the people to stay at home.
