How to Start a Profitable Online Business (Chapter 1: Selling on the Internet)

More and more people are catching the fever. Dreams of a mansion in the hills, early retirement, or just being able to supplement their regular income. Everyone wants to sell on the Internet. Every economic indicator, independent report and government statistic points to the fact that Ecommerce is getting bigger and bigger every year.

This is a good thing for you and me. The huge growth in ECommerce is in part the result of small, home-based Internet businesses carving out our own chunk of the multi-billion dollar ECommerce pie. Ecommerce is riding a wave that won’t break. It’s getting bigger. There IS money to be made, and plenty to go around.

How, though, can you even start your own internet business when you may not even know how to get past the “Start” button on your computer? Even if you are an experienced computer user, most people don’t know what a Merchant Account is, or how to build an Internet storefront. Where’s the starting point? Where can you go and stand on a big black “X” on the ground and say, “This is the FIRST thing I need to do in order to start my online business”?

Be careful! There are a lot of companies out there who tell you they will help you set up your new online business. While some of them are legitimate, there are LOTS of scam artists as well, who are HOPING that you don’t know where to start. They will prey on you. They’ll tell you that you don’t have to know ANYTHING. They’ll say that all you have to do is send them a few hundred dollars (or even as little as thirty or forty dollars) and all will be magically revealed. Your new store will appear like a rabbit out of a hat, and they will handle everything, from the storefront to the bank accounts to the products you will sell.

THIS IS IMPORTANT: Any “Complete Internet Store Solution” that offers you both a web site AND products to sell should be AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS!

There ARE good Internet Store solutions out there. However, nearly all of the Internet Store solutions that offer you a web site and products to sell are trying to sell you a “rubber-stamp” Internet Site.

It’s like getting a thank-you letter from the President for supporting his political party during his election. We both know that the Big Guy isn’t going to sit down and type individual letters to hundreds of thousands of people. Some functionary throws a big list of names into a computer, and the computer prints out the same letter over and over again, each with a different name:

“Dear Mr. Sunday Kingsley, I would like to personally thank you for your support during my recent Election campaign…”

“Dear Mrs. Animasaun Ibikunle, I would like to personally thank you for your support during my recent Election campaign…”

“Dear Occupant, I would like to personally thank you for your support during my recent Election campaign…”

You get the idea, right?

THAT’s what a “rubber-stamp” Internet Store Solution gives you. You’ll end up with an Internet Store that looks EXACTLY

the same as everyone else’s who bought one. Same exact pages, looks, graphics, and all the same products. Only the NAMES on the stores are different.

Your so-called “Internet Store” will sit there and twiddle its thumbs, alongside thousands of other IDENTICAL internet sites, also

busily twiddling THEIR thumbs, all trying to sell exactly the same products. No one will ever even find them on the Internet;

much less BUY anything from them. You’ll end up a permanent resident of an Internet Ghost Town, and you’ll pay for the “privilege”.

(Philosophical question…if thousands of Internet Sites twiddle their thumbs, and no customers are there to see it, do they actually twiddle at all?) :o)

Why do they do it? Why do these scam artists go to all the trouble of setting this whole thing up? Because:

It looks GOOD to you. Everything in one place, for one fee. Internet Store, ready-made Products, Marketing Tips and Information, Promises to bring thousands of customers to your store. All in one place for one “setup fee”, and “reasonable” monthly payments. You hardly have to do ANYTHING!

It’s EASY for them. All they have to do is create ONE web site, and duplicate it thousands of times, one per customer. Then they simply take your money, plug in your name, and they’re done!

They don’t care if you EVER sell a single product. Most of them don’t stock those products anyway. They simply have a “drop shipping” arrangement with the REAL wholesale supplier. If you ever DO sell something, all they have to do is send an email to the REAL supplier, and have the product sent to your customer. (Of course, they make a profit on THAT, too).

They make it look as easy as possible to you, hoping you’ll send them your money. Then all they have to do is click a few buttons and hook you up with a useless Internet Store that SEEMS to work. While you’re trying to figure out (a) why your “store” doesn’t make any money, and (b) why you suddenly can’t get a hold of the magician who sold you your store and disappeared, said magician will be whistling a happy tune all the way to the bank. With YOUR money.

This goes for eBay Auctions too, folks. There are a huge number of people out there selling “Overnight Auction Riches” packages that just don’t work. You’ll see them online, in TV, etc.

Don’t let it happen! Here’s my number one rule concerning the Internet: If it seems too good to be true, it IS too good to be true!

Actually, that’s not even my rule. You know you’ve heard it before. It’s simple common sense. It’s probably been around since the first caveman stumbled over a sleeping bear and thought he had dinner all locked up!

If it seems too good to be true, it IS too good to be true. How quickly that simple common sense statement flies out the window when someone promises you money!

Be smart. You may only have one chance to take your future in your own hands. Don’t hand that one chance over to one of the thousands of scam artists who will lie to your face and leave you with nothing without the slightest twinge of conscience. Their sites look very professional, they sound like they know what they’re talking about, and they can’t wait to get their hands on your money and run.

I’ve literally seen thousands of people taken by these scams. I’ve only seen and talked to these people because after they get scammed, they keep at it and try again. They eventually end up at our web site, looking over this free information. I hate to think about the tens of thousands of people who have been scammed once, and have given up for good.

As I said, there are good Internet Store solutions out there, but there are not many of them. You need to be sure you work with a reputable company when setting up your Internet Store.

So, with that said, where do you start this whole process of selling on the Internet, and doing it the RIGHT way?

Probably the best place is a quick review of how retail sales works.

1. A factory produces a product. Most factories don’t want to get involved in SELLING products to individual Retail Stores. They’re too busy MAKING the products. So, they sell huge amounts of the product to a wholesale distributor, all at once.

2. The wholesale distributor adds a bit to the price of each product, and generally sells them in bulk to a retail store.

3. The retail store breaks open the cartons, adds to the price of each individual product (their markup) and sells the products to its customers.

Sounds pretty simple, doesn’t it? Well, it IS simple, when you’re the customer. All you have to do is walk into your local Dogs A’ Scratchin store, pick up a can of flea powder for your dog Baldy, pay at the register, and you’re on your way.

However, when YOU become the retailer, there are other things to think about. When you OWN the Dogs A’ Scratchin store, you have to pay rent for the building. You have to decide which products you’re going to fill your valuable shelf space with. You have to decide which newspapers, TV and radio stations you’re going to advertise with this month, to bring in new customers. You’ve got to order your products. Pay your distributors. You’ve got to replace damaged inventory, because Mrs. Tunji’s wiener-dog went charging down Aisle Four wearing that lampshade-thingy around his neck, and crashed into your brand new display of Kitty Perfume.

Selling on the Internet is no different. Your Home-based Internet Business is a living, breathing extension of you, and there are things to learn and things to consider when you build and run it. You need to create and run your business yourself. If you let some chuckle head tell you that all you have to do is mail in three cereal box tops and fifty dollars, and they’ll do it all for you, you might as well save the cereal. You’ll need to eat SOMETHING when you lose your money.

EFCC Detains Musiliu Obanikoro, Charges Him With $1m Fraudulent Reciepts

Former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, was on Monday grilled for several hours by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission before he was detained.

According to reports, he was confronted with evidence by detectives.

Obanikoro, who had remained in the United States of America since mid-2015, went straight to the Abuja office of the EFCC immediately after his arrival in Nigeria on Monday from the US.

An aide to the former minister told Sahara Reporters on the telephone that Obanikoro, who reported to the commission by 1.20pm on Monday, had not been released by 8.59pm.

A company, Sylvan McNamara, allegedly owned by Obanikoro’s sons, was said to have received N4.7bn from the Office of the National Security Adviser under Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.) in June 2014.

Obanikoro could not deny the statement when confronted with the evidence including receipts.

Sources at the EFCC told The PUNCH that Obanikoro informed them that he was ill and was on medication. He pleaded with the commission to let him go home.

He specifically told them that he had recently had a spinal cord surgery and was still recuperating.

Obanikoro was said to have insisted that the money he received was not part of the $15bn arms scam but from the imprest account, a special account belonging to the ONSA.

When contacted on the telephone, Obanikoro’s lawyer, Mr. James Onoja (SAN), said:

“I am not a medical doctor; so, I cannot give any expert opinion on his health. He is cooperating with the EFCC now, and he surrendered himself willingly to them, which shows that he has nothing to hide. Hopefully, we will be able to get him out on bail tomorrow (today).”

In a statement by his media aide, Jonathan Eze, Obanikoro commended the EFCC for its professionalism and pledged that he would continue to cooperate with the commission.

The statement read partly, “Senator Musiliu Obanikoro arrived in Abuja this morning and headed straight to the office of the EFCC. This is consequent upon an invitation sent to him by the anti-graft body, which was received on June 15, 2016, coincidentally, at a time he was pursuing a postgraduate degree in the United States.”

Sources at the anti-graft agency said after Obanikoro allegedly handed over N1.219bn to Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State and N1.3bn to Senator Iyiola Omisore, the then Osun State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party; he directed that about N759,384,300 should be transferred into the accounts of about six bureau de change operators.

The two bureau de change operators that received the bulk of the funds were A.A.G.B.S. Oil and Gas and North Line Limited.

An aide to Obanikoro, who accompanied the ex-minister to the EFCC, told the commission that he visited a bureau de change operator on the instruction of Obanikoro and collected over $1m on behalf of the ex-minister and handed it over to him (ex-minister).

Aisha Was Only 12 When Buhari Impregnated Her

The issue of forced child marriage which is predominant especially in the northern part of the country is no longer news. Ask Aisha Buhari; wife of Nigeria’s president Muhammadu Buhari and you will discover an ugly history of child rape.

This is not a propaganda post meant to defame anyone and I am not in support of Child Marriages and neither I’m I calling for the abolition of tradition and cultures. Just See the facts for yourself

Aisha Buhari was born on September 29, 1979. As of today, Mrs. Buhari is only 37 years of age. This means that Buhari at age 47, in 1989 was sleeping with Aisha Buhari at the tender age of 9, an underage according to the constitution of Nigeria. So Mrs. Buhari is a victim of sustained childhood rape and her recent outbursts against her husband are understandable.

How Buhari got Aisha Buhari pregant at age 12 is a chilling story of a Buhari who defiled Aisha as a little child while she was visiting Zulai, Buhari’s eldest daughter who was her playmate. It is ironic how such a traumatized woman now stands at the vanguard of stigmatizing fellow women and it is obvious why her behaviour of late has shown that she still bore bitterness and hatred for her husband in heart.

Why does President Obama take off his wedding ring before shaking hands?

President Obama slips off his wedding ring before shaking hands with crowd

The biggest concern most of us have when shaking hands is whether or not to use sanitizer afterward — especially during cold and flu season. But then again, most of us aren’t the president of the United States.

obama-ring

Wherever President Obama goes, crowds are eager to reach out and touch him. He’s become a handshaking pro who takes precautions — like slyly slipping off his wedding band before extending his hand to an excited group of strangers.

When the president greeted those gathered at an airport in Greensboro, North Carolina, Tuesday, cameras caught him taking off his gold ring and putting it in his pocket just seconds before the handshakes began.

But why take it off at all? Our TODAY anchors pondered all the possible reasons.

obama-ring2

“You know what it might be?” Hoda mused. “When someone squeezes (his hand), it hurts. Maybe it’s a pain problem.”

Savannah suspected it had more do with a fear that the band “will slip off.”

“Maybe he landed in Vegas, and those were all magicians he was shaking hands with,” Carson suggested.

Whatever the reason, this isn’t the first time the commander in chief has done it.

Obama has been spotted slipping off his ring a few times over the years, but it’s an action he does so seamlessly, it rarely gains attention.

4 types of women Nigerian men refer to as Prostitutes aka Ashawos

Some Nigerians men have a funny way of seeing things differently from what it is supposed to be seen. They have prejudice against women who may not be dancing

to their tunes or swallowing what ever they give hook, line and sinker. Any woman who challenges their set status quo is immediately pigeonholed as wayward. And if they want to be more expressive, they tag such women as prostitutes or in the popular local parlance, ashawo.

Below are the four types of ladies that may easily be called prostitutes by chauvinistic men:

1) The dress to kill

Such women cannot avoid being tagged a prostitute or ashawo. This kind of woman are very particular about their outlook appearance. They refuse to dress to the

societal dress code. These women spend so much on their body and sometimes do surgical body configuration to appear sexy and attractive.

Some men talk about this kind of women as being too attractive and would not be able to stay with one man. They conclude that such women are too worldly and

the only way they sustain their look is by prostitution which may not be true in most cases.

2) The ones that challenge male dominance

Ladies who normally throw challenges at men are called disrespectful and a feminist by men. Such women are the kind who wouldn’t take “no” for an answer. They stand up for their rights and do not care about whose ox is gored. They tell the honest truth and bluntly. They are not timid or hide underneath when faced with oppression or intimidation by the male folks.

They find it hard to bend for a dominating man. Such women, with all their characteristics, are tagged as prostitutes and arrogant by chauvinistic men because

they are resilient in their pursuit of self reliance.

3)A lady who doesn’t allow nonsense in

her marriage

This type of ladies are the kinds who don’t take or accept nonsense in their marriages unlike most women who would let it go under the guise of being

submissive. These type of women wouldn’t allow to be cheated, instead, they let every issue be thrashed out.

These women don’t care about what anyone feels or says about their beliefs. They express themselves which could be seen as offensive or disrespectful by men.

Some of these women may eventually prefer to walk out of a marriage if they can’t take further nonsense from the husband or the husband’s family. Such

women are abusively called ashewo by ignorant men.

4) A lady who leads an establishment

A woman leading an establishment dominated by male gender will always have the side eye of the society.

Some men wrongly believe that most women who find themselves at the top must have slept their way through.

A woman leading a male dominated organisation will be seen as a “prostitute” by some egocentric male counterparts. Such women are considered to have gone through the back door to settle the main people in kind in order to get to the top. Despite all her qualifications which may merit attaining such height, some people will still have the perception that she must have “prostituted” herself into it.

Boko Haram militants released in Chibok girls deal, source says

Conflicting information is emerging about

what Boko Haram received in exchange for releasing 21Chibok schoolgirls in Nigeria this week after holding them for two years.

“A number of Boko Haram commanders” were freed as part of Thursday’s release of the girls, a source close to the negotiations between the Islamist militant group and the Nigerian government said on condition of anonymity.

This contrasts with what the Nigerian government has said, which is that the girls’ release was not a prisoner exchange.

“This was not a swap,” Nigerian Information Minister Alhaji Lai Mohammed said Thursday. “It is a release,

the product of painstaking negotiations and trust on both sides.”

A separate source, one with direct knowledge about the girls’ release, told CNN Thursday that no captive Boko Haram fighters were released in exchange for the girls.

Police recover N2.75m bribe from ACP

The Complaint Response Unit of the Nigeria Police Force has resolved 324 cases out of a total of 405 complaints made against the police by members of the public between July 1 and September 30, 2016.

Fifty-one cases reported during the period were found to be false while 30 cases are pending, a report released on Thursday in Abuja by the Officer in charge of the CRU, Acting ACP Abayomi Shogunle, stated.

The CRU said it recovered N2.75m bribe from an Assistant Commissioner of Police, serving in one of the state commands in the South-East, after a complaint was made to the unit through a telephone call. The police stated that the money was recovered from the ACP after the case was referred to the X-Squad for

necessary action in line with the directive by the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, that the X-Squad be integrated into the CRU responding agents.

Findings indicated that the errant senior officer had been referred to the Police Service Commission for disciplinary action. The report stated, “Record shows that the sum of N2.750m bribe was recovered from an Assistant Commissioner of Police, serving in one of the state commands after a complaint was made to the CRU through a telephone call.

“Necessary disciplinary procedures are ongoing against the officer involved in the unacceptable conduct just as the suspect arrested in respect of the case, upon which the bribe money was collected, has since been handed over to the relevant government agency for prosecution

for the offence.”

The CRU report stated that Rivers State Police Command topped the state ranking with a total number of 78 cases followed by Lagos with 72 cases and the Federal Capital Territory with 48 cases. The third quarter report further shows that over half of the complaints against the police came from four state commands – Rivers, Lagos, FCT and Anambra – which accounted for 55.06 per cent of complaints during the period under review. No single complaint was reported against the police in six state commands – Bauchi, Jigawa, Katsina, Kebbi, Osun and Sokoto. “Kebbi State remains the only command with no complaint made against the police since the inception

of the CRU in November, 2015,” it stated.

The CRU said professional misconduct was the leading complaint against police officers with 154 entries followed by demands for money for bail with 144

entries.

It added that complaints were received via telephone calls (294 cases); WhatsApp (55); Twitter (20); email (19); Facebook (six); SMS (two); BBM (one); and eight

cases reported via petitions and media publications.

Dead Girl Wakes Up On Her Burial Day Before Been Buried

Many people ran in different directions in Warri, Delta State yesterday when a young girl of about 15 years presumed to have died suddenly woke up as she was about to be interred at the Warri Cemetery.

The girl, whose name could not be ascertained at press time, was said to have died about 5a.m. yesterday and was wrapped in a mat and placed on top of the soak away at Warri Motor Park. Sources told our correspondent that the girl

suspected to be pregnant, allegedly took

concoction and went into deep sleep which ostensibly made people to suspect she might have given up the ghost.

It was learnt that sympathisers made up mostly of youths saw her completely Unclad and presumed that she had died, wrapped her in mat and headed for the cemetery. “When we got to the cemetery, the workers there dug the grave for her burial.

As the remains were laid into the grave and they were about covering it

with sand, the deceased sneezed and jumped out of the grave and started shouting,” said a witness. Consequently, there was pandemonium within and outside the cemetery as scores of

people thronged the cemetery to catch a glimpse of the ‘resurrected’ girl.

Sources, however, told our correspondent that the girl was immediately rushed to Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, Effurun, near Warri for spiritual cleansing. Attempt by policemen near the cemetery to take the girl to the station was

rebuffed by sympathisers who insisted that the matter did not concern the police. They said it was a spiritual issue.

THIS EXCELLENCE CONFERENCE WILL TURN YOUR LIFE AROUND. DONT MISS IT!

Vince Lombardi once said, “The quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor.”

If you take a look at some of the world’s greatest athletes, most successful entrepreneurs, or anyone who has mastered their craft, you will find that they made a firm commitment to daily excellence. Constantly striving for excellence in every area of your life is ultimately what will determine the quality of your life, no matter what you do for a living.

Committing to excellence is what has shaped some of the most successful companies. Committing to excellence is what turns an average athlete into a great athlete. Committing to excellence is what spurs an ordinary person to creating extraordinary success for themselves.

That’s why you don’t want to miss the Excellence in Life Conference taking place at the end of this month.

THIS EXCELLENCE CONFERENCE WILL TURN YOUR LIFE AROUND. DONT MISS IT!

Wednesday, 21 September 2016

DON'T MISS EXCELLENCE IN LIFE 2016 EVENT STARTING ON THE 30TH OF SEPT. - 2ND OCT. IN ABUJA!

Chris Hartford once said Ultimately, leadership is not about glorious crowning acts. It’s about keeping your team focused on a goal and motivated to do their best to achieve it, especially when the stakes are high and the consequences really matter. It is about laying the groundwork for others’ success, and then standing back and letting them shine. and our very own Nelson Mandela also stressed that It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership.

But how can you become a good leader if you know nothing about EXCELLENCE? An Excellent man is a Lion, not a sheep! Alexander the Great once said and I quote “I am not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep; I am afraid of an army of sheep led by a lion. ” Who do you want to be to lead your team, a sheep or a LION?

To be a Lion, you need to start pursuing excellence in life! If you really desire winning in all aspects of your life, you must focus on achieving excellence as Confucius once said and I quote “The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential… these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence.”

Come September 30th – 2nd October, 2016. Business Leaders, Excellent Teachers and Financial Gurus are gathering at a 3 days event aimed at installing the tenets of Excellence into the lives of Nigerian youths.

Venue of the event is at Anon Plaza, behind NNPC Filling Station, Opposite Ajuji Hotel, Gudu District Abuja. time 5pm September 30th. 10am October 1st and 8am October 2nd.

IF YOU READ THIS AND STILL MISS THIS EVENT, THEN YOU ARE SIMPLY NOT READY TO START TAKING CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE….make sure you aspire to pass through life and don’t let life pass through you!

Revealed: How Nigerian Lawmakers Employ 2,570 Aides, Cheat the System

No fewer than 2,570 aides are engaged by the 469 members of the eighth National Assembly, an investigation by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has revealed.

Out of the number, 700 aides work for lawmakers in the Senate, while the remaining 1,870 are engaged by House of Representatives members.

As provided in the National Assembly Act, each lawmaker, excluding principal officers, is entitled to five aides – one senior legislative aide, two legislative aides, a personal assistant and a secretary.

It was discovered that in the provision, President of the Senate is entitled to 45 aides, his deputy, 30, and 20 each for principal officers.

Similarly, Speaker of the House of Representatives has 35 assistants, Deputy Speaker, 15 and 10 each for the six principal officers.

The number of aides to each legislator, it was gathered, includes those in their Constituency offices.

The monthly emolument of the aides, which ranged from N150,000 to N250,000, sources close to the assembly said, has been reduced to between N75,000 and N180,000 by the current leadership of the assembly. The investigation revealed that in addition to the regular aides, the principal officers of both chambers have Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants and Special Advisers of varying numbers.

This category of aides, it was learnt, had a monthly salary of a minimum of N950,000; but was reduced to N400,000 by the current management of the assembly. All the aides are paid from the coffers of the assembly.

CHEATING THE SYSTEM

However, it was gathered that some of the lawmakers, especially principal officers, have more than the statutorily approved number of aides in their employ, who also draw their salary from the assembly’s funds.

Some lawmakers, however, pay the aides from their own resources.

It was also revealed that many legislators draw the emolument of their aides from the assembly’s funds but pay them fractions.

Some of the lawmakers employed only one or two aides but are collecting the full salary for the five they are entitled to.

This act was discovered to be perpetrated more by the members through their constituency offices, which they are mandatorily expected to have in their areas, but deliberately failed to do so.

They submit names of non-existent staff in the constituency office to the national assembly service commission and collect their entitlements directly.

An aide to a senator from the South-west, working with him in Abuja, said he had never heard of other aides or office his boss had in his constituency.

“All of us, his aides are here; it is only when he is travelling to the state that he goes with the senior legislative aide and his younger brother.

“The brother works with him; he is not documented but he is in charge whenever oga (the boss) is not around.

“But, all of us are always in the office in Abuja, I do not know of assistant or aide he has at the constituency level or in the state,” he said, adding that it was the same with some other lawmakers.

The source declined to disclose his salary, allowance and pay point, but said that the emolument depended on the grade of the aide.

He, however, disclosed that the least-paid aide earned N120, 000 from the assembly commission.

The lawmakers contacted on the issue declined to comment, with some of them saying that they were complying with the rules.

The Clerk of the National Assembly and officials in his office also rebuffed enquires on the issues. Reacting to the findings by NAN, some stakeholders called for reduction in the number of aides working for federal lawmakers and a slash in their pay.

They said the reduction was necessary in view of the current economic challenges facing the country.

Ahmed Haruna, a trader in Wuse Market in Abuja said: “From my own point of view, I think the number of aides assigned to legislators is much and consumes a huge amount from public funds.

“These aides are paid monthly but if their number is slashed and their pay reduced, the money can be redirected into providing infrastructure in the country.”

Paul Imohiosen, a civil servant, believes that the lawmakers do not need the number of aides they are officially entitled to.

He said: “Some of these aides are not useful; most of them are there for mere decoration. They are just too many.

“The country’s economy has gone into recession so this is not the appropriate time to use as much as 45 or 35 aides by one government official.’’

Imohiosen also decried the number of security details attached to some government officials and other elite in the country.

According to him, Nigeria is in need of adequate security to protect lives and property but government officials have huge number of security aides all to themselves which is not fair.

In her view, Igoni Mirabel, a student, insisted that there was need to cut the number and salary, respectively, of the legislative aides by 50 per cent.

“The 50 per cent cut should serve as intervention and the remaining percentage could be used judiciously to improve the economy of the country.

“The Nigeria economy is in a bad state presently, so all expenses must be cut down so that the citizens can benefit immensely,” she added.

On her part, Imelda Omelogo said the number of aides and their emoluments “does not suggest a prudent approach to the management of public expenditure.

“If the call for the reduction in number of aides to the lawmakers is implemented, it will greatly reduce wastage, thereby leaving more money to be ploughed into other sectors.’’

Condemning the large number of the federal lawmakers’ aides, Emmanuel Sawyer, a legal practitioner, said it did not tally with the economic hardship in the country. He said the number of aides should have been slashed along with their salaries by the new leadership of the national assembly.

“We are in a period when Nigeria is facing recession and the cost of running government is still too high.

“At this point in time, we should be talking of merging both chambers into one to reduce the cost of running governance,” Sawyer said.

Teddy Nwanunobi, a civil servant, said that it was unfair for such big salaries to be paid to aides of lawmakers when they were not doing any work commensurate to the pay.

Nwanunobi questioned why some of the principal officers should be entitled to many aides.

“My honest thinking is that the principal officers do not need more than five aides to start with. That way, the aides would be up the task on their duties.

“Secondly, the nearly N1 million monthly salary is just too large for one aide; most of them do not merit that sum, and that’s why they misbehave.

“Personally, I suggest that aides should be graded, and salaries paid accordingly; their salaries should not only be slashed, but paid in accordance with grade and level,’’ he said.

Adanna Uwaleme, a political analyst, however said that the call for slash in the number of aides to the lawmakers should be extended to the Executive arm of government.

Uwaleme said most of the ministers, and even the President, have too many aides.

She said, however, that she was not suggesting that people be sacked but said that there was need to save cost.

“There is no need employing too many aides and paying them so much when other people who do so much work are paid very little.

“I feel that there should be a harmonisation of salaries and allowances of aides and staff of choice government agencies like the NNPC and FIRS with other federal workers.

“There is no justification for paying someone in NNPC so much salary while his colleague on the same level in the ministry takes less than quarter of his salary,” she said.

Emeka Ogwuru, a businessman, said those on the payroll of the lawmakers were “just lucky; many other Nigerians would do anything to get the same position.

“Even if it’s N400,000 a month, at least they can afford a bag of rice, a basket of tomatoes, 50 litres of petrol and book a local flight online in this recession,” he said.

Fulani Herdsmen: Is Buhari their Sponsor?

The recent increase in killings by Fulani herdsmen since president Mohammadu Buhari ascended into the highest office in the country in 2015 is alarming. Hardly will a month go by without the media breaking different news of the wanton destruction of lives and properties by these hoodlums popularly known as Fulani herdsmen.

It is now easy for them to carry out their devilish agenda without fear of been apprehended by the security Agencies in the land. What is more mind bugling is the fact that our various security and intelligence outfits can’t seem to pinpoint the location of these cold blooded murderers and who they are but it is much more easy for them to trace invisible money until they recover it.

It is such a big disappointment that the atrocities of these devious Fulani herdsmen has been allowed to continue unabated due to the body language of the president of Nigeria which seems to suggest that he is in support of what they are doing.

It is shamefully pathetic that decisive actions taken so far on the matter are coming from state governors and their commissioners while the federal government with all the power, might and resources at its disposal has decided act indifferently to a matter that poses serious national security threat to the country.

I don’t want to believe that our once beloved president who is now becoming infamous by the day is sympathetic to the heinous crimes of the devious Fulani herdsmen.

End Time: Pastor Rapes 13yrs Old Boy to Cure Homosexuality”

It is obvious that the end time is here When men start enjoying the sexual company of their fellow men in bed.

A pentecostal pastor with the Jesus Miracle Ministries, Awka, Anambra State (names withheld) is on the run after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 13-year-old boy.

A source who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent that the gay pastor was told by a native doctor that his homosexual ‘sickness’ would be cured if he slept with a male teen.

Narrating his ordeal, the victim (Abuchi) said the incident took place after a vigil service.

The teen victim, who hails from Ebonyi State said, “The pastor approached me after the vigil and asked me to stay back.

“I told the pastor that I wanted to go home since the church activities had ended.

“The pastor told me to wait till dawn and when I insisted that I must go, the pastor applied a substance on my eyes which made me to sleep.

“When I woke up, I noticed that my trousers were torn, and my anus was damp.

“I began to cry, as I was feeling pains in my anus. The pastor said I should stop crying; that he would give me money.

“I rejected the money offer and went home and told my people what happened.”

A relative of the victim, Ngozi, who spoke with journalists, said they were not aware that Abuchi went to church that night.

She said when Abuchi came home and told them what happened, they rushed to the church, only to discover that the pastor had absconded.

The Anambra Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nkiru Nwode, confirmed the report, She said the police had begun a manhunt for the end time pastor, assuring that he would be arrested and prosecuted.

The police spokesperson said the victim has been taken to the hospital for treatment.

Presidential SCAM: EFCC Arrests Buhari's Aide

It is an Obvious Presidential Scam for Buhari’s aide to be arrested with 1.5 million dollars cash without EFCC disclosing his full name!

I was dumbfounded when a news headline detailing how EFCC arrested an unidentified aide of President Buhari in Abuja yesterday. Inline with the anti corruption drive of Mr. President and judging from the recent outbursts from Nigerian citizens against the presidency that it has been selective in its anti-corruption crusade, the news of the arrest of one of the president’s own aide has been arrested is such a great and welcome development in content only…observe..Presidential Scam

Never in the history of EFCC have they attempted to conceal the full identity of people they arrest on corruption charges because they are dedicated to proofing to the nation that they are running a credible and transparent operation. But the reverse is the case in the event of the undisclosed identity of the aide of Buhari who was arrested yesterday at his residence in Maitama, Abuja on charges of corruption in whose possession they recovered $1.5 million and 18 luxury cars which includes, ferrari, bugatti, rolls royce, cadillac and the others..isn’t that funny? who gave him all those luxurious gifts? are they the same people that have been netted by EFCC?…Presidential Scam

These are excerpts from the news:

“A top appointee of President Muhammadu Buhari has been arrested by the Department of State Service (DSS). The individual arrested is a member of the Presidential Investigative Committee on Arms Procurement. Apparently, Air Commodore Umar Muhammed (rtd), was investigating arms procurement for which he too partook in.

A dependable source within DSS stated that Muhammed was fronting for some high ranking officials within the EFCC and security agencies.

To put this in perspective, Muhammad is investigating a criminal offence for which EFCC, who is also part of the investigation are party to.

DSS operatives stormed Muhammad’s house on Sunday located at No. 4 Lundi Close Off Mississipi Street in Maitama, Abuja.

After a five-hour search, the operatives found and seized the sum of $1.5 million dollars in cash and various high-end cars.

According to the source, “The DSS cordoned off his house in Maitama, where he is believed to be having meeting at the time they swooped on the residence.”

What this news report indicates to us is that we are left with the guess work of filling in the appropriate surname behind one certain Mohammad that they arrested…I am sure that there are many Mohammads in Aso Rock even the president’s own name starts with “Mohammadu”

In as much as the EFCC in collaboration with the executive arm of government are working so hard d to launder the image of the president for Nigerians to see him as a man that does not care who gets arrested on the charges of corruption, much still needs to be done in the area of transparency in the pursuance of justice because all that this news report indicates is simply a presidential scam perpetuated by EFCC and the Presidency to fool Nigerians.

I believe Nigeria can never break up inspite of the tension rising up against the government around the country!

EFCC: Why We Froze Fayose's Account

Nigeria’s anti-graft body (EFCC) the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission  has opened up on why the account of President Muhammadu Buhari’s fiery critic was frozen.

Although section 308 of the 1999 constitution gives immunity to serving governors, the EFCC spokesperson Mr. Wilson Uwujaren says such immunity does not stop a sitting governor from being investigated.

The EFCC says it decided to freeze Gov. Fayose account because it has sufficient evidence that some suspicious lodgments were traced to the account

His words: “It is true that we have frozen Governor Fayose’s account in connection with an ongoing investigation. We will soon release the details of our findings to the public.

“We froze the account because Fayose has no immunity against investigations.

“Let me clarify that the 1999 Constitution does not grant immunity to governors or public officers against investigation.

“The governors and others enjoying the immunity clause in Section 308 cannot be prosecuted. Therefore, Fayose cannot stop EFCC from doing its job.”

Asked if the amount in the Post No Bill ( PNB ) account was up to N1.3billion as being speculated, Uwujaren said: “Certainly, some amount was frozen in Fayose’s account but I cannot say the exact amount till tomorrow (today).”

A top official, who spoke in confidence, said: “It became necessary to freeze the account following clues on alleged suspicious lodgments.

“We will release the facts soon to Nigerians to appreciate the extent of our investigation.”

Governor Fayose has been having a running battle with the Federal Government over his anti-Buhari stance.

Recently, the governor was placed under security watch by the Federal Government and told point blank that he could not travel out of the country unless he seeks a clearance from the Department of State Security.

Many see this latest incident – freezing a sitting governor’s account as one of the moves to muzzle the dissenting voices – a sad pointer to the fact that President Muhammadu Buhari is running a dictatorial government.

Fulani Herdsmen Destroy Ortom’s Rice Farm; Kill 50

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state, yesterday disclosed that his country home has been sacked by Fulani herdsmen who also killed over 50 of his kinsmen after which they razed over 200 hectares of his rice farm.

He lamented that the incessant killings and destruction of lives and property in the Benue had created a 25 year retrogression of development in the state. The Governor made this known when he received the All Progressives Congress, APC Governors’ Forum led by Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state, who paid him condolence visit over the invasion of Agatu and other parts of Benue by the herdsmen. According to him, “the fulani herdsmen invaded my village, killed over 50 persons and destroyed over 200 hectares of my rice farm.

As I am sitting here, I have no ancestral home, they killed children, old men and women in my community.” “The fulani herdsmen come to Benue not just to graze but to steal, kill and destroy the livelihood of the agrarian people after which they take possession of the land knowing fully well that all we have here are our farms.”

“The truth is that these attacks have brought a major setback to the people especially with our declining revenue from the federal allocation which was about N7 billion before I assumed office but this month stood at N1.3billion while our monthly wage bill stands at close to N4billion. The Governor lamented that even after President Buhari had directed that soldiers and mobile police men should be deployed to the state, there had not been any reports of the arrest of people behind the heinous crime.

Patrol Vehicles And Motorcycles To Be Commissioned In Lagos

Why is it so hard for the government to buy patrol vehicles made in Nigeria. We need to patronise our own!

It is obvious that Governor Ambode of Lagos State is committed to driving progress in the bid to providing adequate security to Lagos residents by going out of his way to purchase these patrol vehicles and motorcycles.

These are good gestures form this State Government. I have seen these pictures and the ones of LASEMA. The state government should have agreement with mechanics across the state for prompt maintenance and repairs of these auto-mobiles.

My only reservation is that Nigeria government needs to start buying patrol vehicles for security agencies from Nigerian car manufacturers.

PDP CRISIS: Police Seals PDP National Headquarters In Abuja

Police Seals Wadata Plaza as PDP Crisis reaches Crescendo

The Nigeria Police in a statement yesterday said intelligence at the disposal of the Force leadership indicated that some aggrieved factional leaders and members of the party had perfected plans to engage thugs from across the country to join them in threatening public peace and security in Abuja.

Sequel to the on-going intra-party leadership crisis in the party and further fallout of the recent political engagements of the Party.

The plan of the brains behind the PDP Crisis was to infiltrate Abuja and attack the Headquarters of the PDP with intent to forcefully occupy the facility.

pdp crisis

Police sources confirm that the actors will mobilise into Abuja with effect from Monday 23rd May 2016 and they intend to march through major streets in Abuja before proceeding to the PDP Secretariat to manifest their intention.

“Consequently, the Inspector-General of Police has directed the deployment of Police assets to secure the PDP Secretariat and protect the staff until the threat to internal security that is being occasioned by the pdp crisis within the PDP is stabilised.

“The police action is a proactive initiative which is being placed in furtherance to the statutory mandate of the Nigeria Police to prevent breakdown in law and order and protect lives and property.”

Arase, however, warned all actors in the crisis as well as their loyalists to refrain from any act that may threaten public order as the police shall deal promptly, firmly and decisively with such persons or group in line with their legal obligations.

Unemployment: Jobless Nigerian Lady On The Street With Her Placard

This is what you Get when the unemployment rate of a country is enormous

unemployment

A young lady who claims to have graduated with a Second Class Upper – Bachelor of Science in Computer Studies, took to the streets in Lekki Phase 1 to look for a Job. At a point in life, your brain will fail you. A computer student looking for work.. That’s cool. A lesson to all those killing themselves on jamb and those in school waiting to be lashed on NYSC orientation camp. This is almost the result. Be creative, the government don’t care about us. Don’t work hard…. Just work and think smart.

In this I.T age, a computer science graduate shouldn’t be looking for a Job. The problem is that most people just go to school just to graduate, forgetting that every lecture they receive is another means of livelihood. Most of our so called computer graduate can not even design a basic website and yes I have to say this, its pathetic!

This current “CHANGE” in the country is actually resetting people’s brains back to default setting. That’s a first sign of recession, unemployment, high cost of living which leads to desperation. I don’t blame the little angel anyway, If she was in Abuja I did offer her a secretary job and get her out of unemployment, at least she will manage till she gets a better job.

Consciousness

music possess a potent force for creating conscious change in the hearts and minds of a people hence the need to be conscious of the content of the message we send across to the heterogenous audience out there. You speak to the mic because you belief someone out there is going to listen to it. Make sense out of everything you say in your lyrics. If it doesn’t sound right in your ears, there’s practocally no need to send it out there. What if bob Marley, fela, 2face et al were less emphatic about what they churned out, we would still be in the dark side of things. Our industry in rapidly growing, what better time to state the need for general consciousness. God bless the industry

Police Recruitment: One Million Chasing 10,000 Job

The large number of applicants for every job opening, is an enduring warning bell over the worrisome unemployment situation judging from the recent police recruitment scheme.

It is not a surprise to to see millions of people chasing a job that only have 10,000 job openings in a country where the unemployment index is over 60%. Ever since the Nigeria Police Force pasted their posters for police recruitment earlier on in this year the staggering figures of Nigerian youths clamouring for the job has been soaring higher by the day. Few of our young people will voluntarily join the Police Force if they have the luxury of choice. It was an irony of sorts when the Police Service Commission recently invited applications from qualified Nigerians for recruitment into the Force based on President Muhammadu Buhari’s approval for the recruitment of 10,000 policemen.

The Commission had advertised for the recruitment of 500 Cadet ASPs, 500 Cadet Inspectors, 1,500 Specialist Officers and 7, 500 Constables. Within a few days of the advertisement of the police recruitment, officials of the PSC were astounded, if not shocked, by the response from applicants. According to Ikechukwu Ani, Head, Press and Public Relations of the Commission, between April 24 and May 2, 2016 no fewer than 843,008 applications had been received. A breakdown of this showed that 243,327 applications were received for ASP cadre, while 197,990 and 401,691 applied for the Inspector and Police Constable cadres, respectively. Soon after, the figure rose to over one million applicants, leaving many wondering if the Police was indeed as unpopular as generally held. Even the Inspector General of Police could not help but exclaim that he “never knew Nigerians liked the police this much that such a gargantuan number wants to join the Force.” It is, however, obvious that the stampede for police jobs has little to do with “popularity”. With an unemployment rate of 60.8 per cent of Nigeria’s over 170 million people, jobless Nigerians certainly cannot be too choosy when positions are advertised by any organisation.

This was what informed the response by 6.5 million applicants to the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) recruitment in March 2014, which ended tragically with the death of 23 job seekers during a recruitment test. The Police authorities have to exercise extreme care in this police recruitment drive, ensuring that only people who are suitably qualified with impeccable characters and backgrounds will be brought on board. The process of ascertaining this must be very painstaking to keep out bad eggs. The large number of applicants for every job opening, is an enduring warning bell over the worrisome unemployment situation.

We urge governments at all levels to come up with radical ideas to put more of our idle youth to work and reduce the social consequences of high unemployment.

The End of Land Grabbing n Lagos?

Land Grabbing is the act of forcefully taking over another man’s land

Land grabbing has been a menacing issue for millions of would be land owners and house owners in Lagos over the ages. Many people have suffered from the hands of thugs who go about parading themselves as “Omo Onile” in the violent land grabbing spree from the rightful owners of the lands.

Omo Onile, Ajagungbale, Land Grabbers, whatever else they are called have also been a menace to Land Owners for several decades. They range from family members of the original land owner, members of the community or plain Opportunistic Thugs.

Their modus operandi is to disrupt activities of Land Owners, or forcefully infringe themselves on other people’s Lands. They are usuaully armed with weapons and sometimes work with Enforcement agencies. In more affulent areas like the Lekki-axis, these thugs are more dangerous and powerful, riding around in luxury SUV vehicles, demanding for outrageous amounts.

Unfortunately, I have been involved with these groups of individuals in my personal land endeavours. The “Ajagungbales” are a group that forcefully collect other people’s lands. Openly confronting them can lead to violent, deadly encounters (remember the issue of the death of Lekki Free Trade Zone Managing Director, Bola Disu when called to resolve some land dispute). These Guys have “confisticated” large parcels of Land in Ikorodu, include mine. These Gang of about 200 people are armed with weaponry to the teeth, so visiting is not even an option.

Seems like the Lagos state government are ready to implement a Bill to curtail the activities of these scourge. Unfortunately, [b]the punishment upon successful conviction – only N300,000 fine.[b]

Even the traditional leader of Ikorodu, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, called the fine “too meagre”. Enforcement of the Bill is another project on its own.

So it looks like Land grabbing by these devilish land grabbers is not going to end in Lagos anytime soon…

this is the update on Nigerian news in the newspaper for today at this hour
